A 35-year-old female driver from Washington Township hit the woman near the corner of Harriot Avenue and West Shore Road around 7 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, Harrington Park Police Chief Robert Murphy said.

"It appears that the pedestrian was walking eastbound in the eastbound lane and the motorist didn't see her and struck her," Murphy said.

There's no sidewalk there, residents noted.

"There was no impairment suspected and the driver remained on scene," the chief said.

Members of the Harrington Park Volunteer Ambulance Corps splinted the leg, stabilized the patient and brought her to a landing zone set up by borough firefighters at Highland Field, responders said.

AirMed One flew the woman to Hackensack University Medical Center.

Police were investigating, Murphy said.
